Joseph Arth

The Arth / McConville family have been in business for over a century continuously producing faucets and valves for American homes. Joseph Arth and his brothers found a promising site for their new business, The American Brass Manufacturing Company on the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio in 1894. This was the beginning of the original family business, which still operates today at its original site.

Surviving two World Wars and the Great Depression, the company under the guidance of second generation Joseph P. Arth, the eldest son of Joseph Arth, continued to grow. American Brass' core business at the time was serving plumbing wholesalers on the densely populated East Coast. After World War II our business flourished as the pent up demand for housing kept our factory working long hours.

The 1950's brought change and opportunities, as American became the first faucet company supplying the Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicle industries. Robert C. McConville, the son-in-law of Joseph P. Arth, expanded the business to a national level as American began supplying MH / RV plants across the country. This industry demanded innovation and economies, which American answered with new product and cost effective designs.

The fourth generation of building faucets was realized when the great grandson of Joseph Arth entered the family business. Robert F. McConville continues the tradition established by father, grandfather, and great grandfather through product diversification and meeting the specialized needs of customers.

Today, American Brass is a company that has established a strong reputation for product quality and reliability. Operating from its 60,000 square foot facility the company can provide its customers with a single source for all their faucet needs. Product diversification and a rich family tradition of faucet manufacturing expertise have led to American's longevity. Dedication and outstanding customer service allow American to serve your needs. We thank the many customers who have supported us through the years and look forward to supplying current and future customers with our quality faucets and parts.
